This paper demonstrates a folded battery fabricated using wax printed paper microfluidics. Aluminum and silver were embedded into the different layers of the circuit to create the two half cells to form a battery. A few ยตL of deionized water would then activate the postage stamp sized battery, supplying about 2.5 V for over 15 minutes – enough to power an LED. This battery only costs around $0.10 a piece to fabricate.
This paper details out the steps to replicate the process and make your own origami microfluidic battery.
