3D printed imaging platform to understand plant root systems

Michel Moussus and Matthias Meier from Munich have designed and characterized a 3D printed open microfluidic platform for high-resolution live imaging of Arabidopsis thaliana roots. They identified a suitable material for the device and established a drought stress assay that validates the reliability of the RootChip. It is easy to implement and promises new insights into the cellular and molecular dynamics of the plant root system.
